Workday Basics: Refer a Candidate

Purpose

The purpose of this job aid is to provide employees with step-by-step instructions for referring candidates for employment opportunities in Workday and tracking the status of their referrals.

 

When to Use

Use this job aid when submitting a candidate referral through Workday to ensure proper compliance with the hiring process. 

 

Steps

1. From the Jobs Hub menu, select My Referrals.

 

2. Select the Refer a Candidate button, as shown in the image below.  

3. My Referrals in the Jobs Hub dashboard with the Refer a Candidate icon highlighted, as described in the preceding text.  

 

4. Enter the candidate’s first and last name.  (See left image below)

 

5. Enter a contact email. You can also add an optional phone number.  (See right image below)

6. In the Job Details section, select Jobs or Job Areas to search for open jobs. Select the prompt icon to browse the open jobs or enter a job requisition number or keyword to search.  (See left image below)

 

7. In the sections provided, add additional information or attachments that would be helpful for the recruiters and hiring managers. (See right image below) 

8. Select Submit.

Notes & Tips

  • My Referrals allows you to view the candidate’s name, the specific position you referred them for, the stage in the recruiting process, personal notes entered, and other submission details
