What is VMware Horizon?


VMware Horizon is Norfolk State University's new Virtual Computer Lab. VMware Horizon is a virtualization environment that delivers virtual desktops and applications on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android endpoints. Faculty members can request Virtual Desktops be created to host course/department specific applications.

 

What is VDI?


VDI stands for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. VDI is a cutting-edge technology that utilizes virtual machines to manage and provide virtual desktops. Rather than being confined to a specific physical device, a virtual desktop is a preconfigured image of an operating system and its applications can be accessed from any compatible device.

 

Why would I need this service?


Users can submit a support request if they are experiencing issues with their virtual desktop session and/or issues with the application(s) running on their current virtual desktop in VMware Horizon. Do you need help? Use the Service Request tab for help with this service.

What happens after I submit the request?


You will receive an email confirming that you entered the request. OIT will follow up with you once your request has been received.
