Cardinal HCM is the modern system for human resources, health benefits, time and attendance, and payroll administration for the Commonwealth of Virginia. There are two types of users in Cardinal: (1) Employee Self Service (ESS) users or (2) Core users. ESS users are able to view payroll information (W-2s, paychecks) and update personal information in Cardinal HCM. Core Users perform day-to-day work in Cardinal, including approving absence requests, as well as self-service activity.

The process to gain Supervisor Approval access in Cardinal requires completing the Cardinal Security Statewide Access Form (attached) and returning it to EAServices@nsu.edu.
